top 10 movie sword fights – #6: de la vega (zorro) vs. captain pasquale

Proving that this is not just a list of special effect fights, the No. 6 selection is a taste of old Hollywood.

From the black and white silent era (1920’s) classic, The Mark of Zorro, the culminating battle between Zorro and Captain Pasquale is one of the most beautifully choreographed duels to ever grace the screen.

The fight is arguably the best on-screen battle from a technical standpoint, but exists in relatively obscurity as not many people have viewed it. Before today, that is.

The movie’s lack of popularity causes for a bit of a drop in the ratings, but the incredible control and swordsmanship of actor Douglas Fairbanks is incredible. And earns the No. 6 spot on the list.
